The participants will visit the at-sea experimental site of the prototype model of the very large floating structure (Mega-Float) and the Japan Marine Science and Technology Center (JAMSTEC). Technological Research Association of Mega-Float has begun a research project to study the development and use of ultra-large floating structure which would serve as foundation site of various facilities designed to meet public needs. In this project, nine large prototype model units with 100m length, 20m width and 2m depth were produced and joined together at sea, and became a large floating structure model with 300m length and 60m width. If you visit the model, you will be able to feel and observe its elastic behavior. The JAMSTEC is now active especially for "Deep-sea Research", "Observation and Study of the Oceans" and "Development and Utilization of Coastal Seas". The main facilities there are the high pressure experimental vessel, the deep water diving simulator, the deep sea microorganism collecting and cultivating facility, and so on. If lucky, the participants can see SHINKAI 6500, a famous manned submersible which can dive into the water depth of 6500m, or 10000m class ROV KAIKO which can reach the deepest point of the ocean floor.
